Scalp Micropigmentation

What is Scalp Micropigmentation?

Micropigmentation is simply the placement of pigment into the second dermal layer of an individual's skin. The microfine needle points, that must be seen under a microscope to fully appreciate, allow experienced technicians to produce microscopic details when performing the scalp micropigmentation procedure. Here at OC BROWZ, we pay fine attention to detail that comes with micropigmentation and combine that with our own technique and a patent-pending pigmentation formula for microscopic hair follicle color matching and follicle replication. This creates a realistic hairline and hair density. This procedure is perfect for anyone who is dealing with some level of balding. Whether you're completely bald, have a scar on your scalp, or you just have thinning hair and you would like to make your scalp less visible,  micropigmentation is the best and quickest solution for you.

Do the results look natural?

The results only look natural if:

  • The correct pigments are used

  • The correct needles are used

  • The right micropigmentation machine is being used

  • The right frequency is set on the micropigmentation tool

  • An experienced technician is conducting the procedure

  • The aftercare instructions are followed

  • All follow up procedures are conducted according to the instructions given to you after your procedure

The above list of requirements are standard with every scalp micropigmentation OC BROWZ performs, so you can rest assured that, yes, your results will look natural.

Is Scalp Micropigmentation a tattoo?

Tattoo artists use inks that are meant to last an individual''s life time. OC BROWZ uses DermiMatch pigments that are meant to hold their color for the life of the replicated follicles, and start to fade between 5 to 7 years after the first procedure while never changing color; the color just becomes less strong over time.
With Tattoos, the ink is placed deep within the skin, so deep, that is draws blood. DermiMatch Scalp Micropigmentation only penetrates the 2nd dermal layer of the skin ensuring low pain, detailed semi-permanent results, and color integrity.
With tattoos lasting as long as they do, they can lose color and blur on the edges. This is a property that you cannot afford to have when one has thousands of follicle replications on one's head. The pigments we use retain their shape and fade out of the skin before any blurring or color migration would ever take place. Our needles are custom made to be the width of real human hair, and our technicians are trained to use the proper method to ensure that each area of the scalp has the proper number of replicated hair for each replicated follicle. In real hair, you can have follicles with just one hair in them, or as many as 5 hair per follicle. Here at OC BROWZ we are aware of these subtle nuances that make the whole scalp appear to be covered in real naturally growing hair.
In short, it is not a tattoo, but it is also not permanent makeup. Oc Browz uses a method something in between. A unique approach to hair loss, and worthy of its own classification.

Is it painful?

At OC BROWZ, next to a fabulous result, your comfort is our highest priority. We apply a highly concentrated numbing solution to make your experience as easy and pain free as possible. On top of that,  Scalp Micropigmentation only penetrates the 2nd dermal layer, so the pain would be minimal even without the numbing cream.

How long does it last?

This all depends on an individual's body chemistry and how well they take care of their scalp. For some people that spend a lot of time outside (in the sun), they will need a touch-up in about 2-3 years after the procedure. Others, if they keep their scalp moisturized and protected from the sun, can have their results last 5-8 years without any touchups.

How long does the procedure take?

This depends on the amount of coverage needed on the scalp, but it can range from 1 to 3.5 hours during which time, you will be in a reclined for your comfort throughout the procedure.

Can I have this done if I’ve had a hair transplant?

Yes, most of our clients have had hair transplants and did not receive the amount of hair density they wanted or they simply just want their HT scar covered up. We provide both services; Scalp Micropigmentaion and Scar Camouflage.

Can I have this done if I am planning to get a hair transplant?

If you are planning on having a hair transplant done in the near future, you can still have the procedure done, just be aware that a hair transplant strip scar may prevent you from wanting to shave your head and will require additional work to cover up your new scar once it has healed. For the Scalp Micropigmentation process to give you the best results possible, we highly recommend getting follicular unit extraction done instead of the strip approach. This makes it so that you will not have the linear scar associated with strip removal hair transplants.

Can I go to a tattoo parlor to have this done?

For the same reasons we list how scalp micropigmentation is different than a tattoo, you would not want to go to a tattoo artist for this procedure. They operate different machinery, rotary frequency, needles sizes, and pigments. In fact, there are no pigments that exist in the tattoo industry; only inks. Inks do not hold their shape as well when placed into the skin in such small points. Even if a tattoo artist had the years of experience in follicle replication it takes to do it right, it would be impossible, With the inks and needles they use, to get the same look you would get from having this procedure professionally done at OC BROWZ using DermiMatch. I have seen people that have attempted to have a tattoo artist tattoo their scalp and it does not turn out well. They end up with thousands of blurry spots on their head that look like marker tips, and if they had it done long enough ago, the color has changed to be slightly blue or green. It is not worth the risk. Especially with something like the top of your head which will be exposed to people on a daily basis.

Can I go to a permanent makeup facility to have this done?

Although we do Microblading and Permanent Makeup here at OC BROWZ. Scalp Micropigmentation is a totally different animal! When we do micropigmentation, we use totally different machinery, rotary frequency, needles, and pigments than we use in our permanent makeup or microblading procedures. We are aware of the  unique properties of the human scalp and treat it as a unique procedure.

How much does the procedure cost/pricing?

Our prices will not be beat! Compare us to any other service being offered out there and we will beat their price. Most other facilities charge anywhere from $4,000 to $8,000 depending on the time spent on the procedure. Check out our service menu on this website to see an approximate cost.  Actual cost of the procedure depends on the severity of baldness the individual is experiencing. A rough estimate can be given via email by sending pictures to ocbrowz@gmail.com, but the true assessment of the work that will need to be done will not take place until an in office consultation takes place.
